It can be Smack of course, but i doubt it, as current Spark works with at least two servers (Openfire,ejabberd). Smack is in fairly active development. Have you tried with other clients? Gajim, Psi, maybe even Conversations on Android.
We can try summoning Flow (maintainer of Smack) here to ask what

I was able to reproduce this. This happens when you install Openfire into Program files and run it without Run as administrator (via launcher). That's because of UAC protection in recent Windows versions and every Windows administrator should know that.. Anyway, if you want to run it via launcher, install it to C:\Openfire or install it as a service (which is the desired way anyway).

And It still not work.
My conversations messenger works with Openfire 4.1.0.beta only.

Cant see telephone number in contact card
From some point i start to find that i cant see phone number in contacts card.
Before it's work well.
When i'm checking connection to my Active Directory domain i see phone numbers in OpenFire admin.
But when i try to open contact card in Spark 2.8.3 - there is nothing.

This occurs because the telephone number wasn't entered by using the E.164 format. Numbers in the E.164 format typically start with a plus sign prefix that's followed by a maximum of fifteen digits. For example, the E.164 format for the United States telephone number 555-0100 that has an area code of 425 is +14255550100.If a telephone number isn't entered by using E.164 format in the Office 365 portal or in the on-premises AD DS, it won't replicate to the Lync address book or it may appear in an unexpected format.
Note Unexpected formatting can also occur when a user has an Outlook contact who has the same number as the Lync contact. This data can sometimes be merged and results in an unexpected format. Disabling Personal Information Manager (PIM) integration can help locate the source of such an occurrence. I'm using Smack 4.1.9, I know it's not maintained any longer, but nevertheless maybe this issue is also present in latest version:

It's probably just a simple null pointer based on the fact that the connection is no yet bound maybe (AbstractXMPPConnection.user is null) - in that case the problem is on the server side, which is even more serious.
Any thoughts?

Erros plugins Openfire 4.1.3 (jappix and webchat)
Hello, my Openfire was out of date, and i recently did update to last version, 4.1.3, and on start up of the Openfire services, it show this "Exception errors" in this two plugins. The question is, may they don't have updates anymore, so don't work properly? so if is this, how to uninstall those guys?
Clients are Spark and in the last versions.

Spark Settings
I have a question about settings for Spark. My users switch computers as we are a 24x7 shop and they usually do not sit at same location on their shift. I have it setup on the server side and it works great. My question is when a new user logs on they have to put the domain in and click on advanced->general and check Accept all certificates. Is there a file that I can edit and place on all systems that would have this checked already and put the domain in? I have turned off all other items on the logon screen but have to leave advanced open.

I think, the postet error not necessarily has to do with the effect of the empty collegues-list. Even 2.7.7 throws errors like this:

As suggested I have also recorded the received/sent raw-packets from the smack-debug-windows.
I recordet the first few seconds with the old 2.7.7 and with the 2.8.3. spark-version.
In both received-Data I can see the XLM-Data of the collegues, but in 2.7.7 the list in spark is empty.
Maybe still a problem of spark and not of the underlying Smack library?
I don't see in this forum any possibility to upload files, so I put the raw-data here for you to download
(email-addresses are obfuscated to prevent abuse).
Maybe someone can help by analysing the raw-packets(?).

your quickest method; install a certificate our openfire server from a trusted party thats included with java.
You could also create a custom spark.properties files and deploy it to the users.

I'm not that good in reading those packets. What i see is that Kerio is actually a rebranded Tigase server:

current Tigase version is 7.1.0.
5.1.0 is 6 years old. That might be the cause of those errors in 2.7.7 also.
in received group packets i only see one difference: in Kerio it sends subscription tag before the name. In Openfire name goes first and then subscription type is closing the tag. This is probably not important. I can't spot any glaring difference between received packets comparing to Openfire.
